European Leaders Challenge Churches Worldwide to Renew Their Vow for Support of Israel on Holocaust Remembrance Day

euparlament_bruxelles Brussels 12 November, 2008 – Christian leaders from over twenty European nations, together with members of European Parliament, commemorated on Tuesday the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht, Night of Broken glass, by launching this year’s educational campaign “Learn from History” which aims at mobilizing Christian faith communities in Europe to teach about the Holocaust and to recommit to the safety and security of European Jewry and the state of Israel.

Swedish government committed to supporting Holocaust education as it prepares for EU-presidency

Rosenbad ©Pawel FlatoStockholm 9 September 2008 – The Swedish government remains committed to supporting Holocaust education and remembrance, thus preserving the legacy of the former Prime Minister Göran Persson, who called together the Stockholm International Forum on the Holocaust in 2000. This forum launched the International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which later was adopted both by the United Nations and the European Parliament.

French EU presidency says “non” to a nuclear Iran and to talks with Hamas

elysee_palaceParis 1 July 2008 – The French EU-presidency, which starts today on Tuesday 1 July, wants to send a strong message to any state or terrorist organization which threatens to attack Israel. “Those who call for the destruction of Israel will always find France blocking their path.” This message was repeated several times during French president Nikolas Sarkozy’s state visit to Israel last week and was also confirmed to a small delegation of the European Coalition for Israel, which met privately with an adviser close to the president last week in Paris.
